How to Set Up a Telegram Lead Qualification Bot
Quick Summary (TL;DR):
- Goal: Build an automated questions flow to ask users questions, validate their responses (like emails or phone numbers), save them in CRM fields, and tag them.
- Time to set up: ~6 minutes.
- Key Nodes needed: Message Node (with variable saving) + Condition Node.
- Ready Template: ⚡ Import the Lead Qualification Bot Template
The Challenge: Why manual lead generation on Telegram is inefficient
Managing inbound leads manually on Telegram (e.g., asking users one-by-one about their budget, company size, and phone number) has major drawbacks:
- Response delay: If a prospect replies at 2 AM and your sales team is asleep, they cool down.
- Data fragmentation: Contact details are stuck inside direct chat histories rather than in a structured CRM table.
- Low-quality leads: Sales representatives waste valuable time speaking to unqualified prospects who don't fit your target profile.
Using TeleGo.io, your bot handles initial qualification 24/7. It asks the necessary questions, validates contact formatting, saves details directly to your CRM, and alerts your team of hot leads.
Step-by-Step Implementation Flow
Here is the logic we will construct: User triggers intake ➔ Bot asks details ➔ Check inputs (Validation) ➔ Save to CRM ➔ Alert sales team
Step 1: Create Custom Fields (CRM Variables)
Before collecting inputs, you need to tell TeleGo where to save them:
- Open your TeleGo dashboard and go to Workspace Settings ➔ Fields & Globals.
- Click Create Field to add your custom lead attributes:
lead_name(Type: String)lead_email(Type: String)company_size(Type: Number)qualification_status(Type: String)
- Click Save. These fields are now available across all your visual scenarios.
Step 2: Build the Questionnaire Scenario
- Open your bot's scenario canvas in the visual editor.
- Add a Message Node to ask the first question: "Welcome! What is your name?"
- Click the node and look at the Save Response option:
- Toggle Save user response to variable.
- Select the
lead_namevariable.
- Drag a second Message Node and connect it to the first. Ask: "What is your email address?"
- Toggle Save user response to variable.
- Select
lead_emailvariable. - Select Validation: Email Format. (If the user enters text that is not a valid email, the bot will display an error: "Please provide a valid email address" and wait for them to re-enter it).
Step 3: Route prospects using a Condition Node
To filter out low-value leads (e.g. companies that are too small):
- Drag a third Message Node to ask: "How many employees are in your company?"
- Save response to
company_size.
- Save response to
- Connect this to a Condition Node:
- Set the condition:
company_size >= 10.
- Set the condition:
- The Condition Node gives you two paths:
- True (Green): Connect to a message saying: "Thank you! Our account manager will contact you shortly." and drag an Action Node to apply the tag
Hot Lead. - False (Red): Connect to a message saying: "Thanks! We recommend checking out our self-serve guides at our website." to filter out prospects that need high-touch sales.
- True (Green): Connect to a message saying: "Thank you! Our account manager will contact you shortly." and drag an Action Node to apply the tag
Step 4: View your leads in the TeleGo CRM
Every user who interacts with this scenario will automatically be added to your CRM:

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Can I automatically get a Telegram notification when a hot lead qualifies?
A: Yes! You can place a Notification Node (or configure an Action Node to Send Alert to Admin Chat) right after the "True" branch of your Condition Node. This alerts your sales team instantly inside their own Telegram accounts.
Q: How does TeleGo sync these leads with my external CRM (like HubSpot or Salesforce)?
A: You can connect your webhook URL in Workspace Settings ➔ Integrations or add an HTTP Sync Action Node at the end of the scenario. This sends the lead's JSON data (name, email, size) directly to HubSpot, Zapier, or Make.com instantly.
